to start off, i think a story focusing on gender has room for social commentary on our societies binary perception on gender and gender expression,i dont get how them singing plays into it,or how getting sick ruins them presenting as a man

I think Alex’s identity is super cool! There is so much potential for expansive world-building here, which makes me more intrigued about the storyline. Where are all the girls? Do they live in a separate community, in another world? Did they all die? Was Alex born into this world of all boys, and if so, how? Wouldn’t the doctors at her birth know about her identity? How will the all-male society react if/when she is discovered? Alex as a character opens the door to many discussions about gender roles and stigma in society, which is a super interesting and relevant theme to explore in a short.
